Joseph Olson
Broker Associate with Coldwell Banker Realty. Air Force veteran. Former archivist. Sacramento since 2002. Friends call me Joe.

Why I do this
The best part of this job is helping people on a human level. You can be confident that you’ll be listened to, respected, and professionally served. Whether the task is finding a home that’s a great fit for you, helping you get your house on the market, or negotiating a stressful transaction on your behalf, your process will be handled with skill and commitment.
Why did I become a Realtor? I have a fundamental passion for houses, neighborhoods, and communities. And because deep, life-affirming satisfaction only comes from helping others.
I think of myself as a likable and well-rounded person who is shaped by the best traits from all his experiences.
I have the manners and patience of a Midwesterner, the broad acceptance and relaxed demeanor of a Californian, the integrity and service of an Air Force veteran, and the motivation and focus of an information professional.
As my client you’ll be served with integrity, honesty, respect, and excellence. These are the values I hold myself to and treat others with. I look forward to working with you!
From Beale to broker
How a Midwesterner became an Air Force veteran, an archivist and then a Sacramento broker.
- Wisconsin
I grew up in the Midwest. The manners and the patience came from there.
- U.S. Air Force
I joined at 18 and was stationed at Beale Air Force Base. I never left the Sacramento area.
- School
Sac City, then Sac State, then a master’s degree in library science.
- Archivist
I worked as an archivist. I still research a house the way I’d research a collection.
- Open houses
My wife and I were open-house hobbyists. I studied what I liked and didn’t like about every agent we met. One day she said, “You could be doing that.”
- Broker
I earned a broker’s license, which takes more coursework and a harder exam than a salesperson’s license. Today I’m a Broker Associate with Coldwell Banker Realty.

Four promises
- Honest
If something is wrong with a house, I want you to know. I’ll tell you what I’d do in your shoes, even when the answer is “not yet.”
- Responsive
Even if nothing is happening, I’ll tell you nothing is happening.
- Thorough
A template for every form, an explanation for every document, and inspections done right.
- Personal
I work without a team or an assistant. About 85% of my business is referrals and past clients, and I’d like you to be one.
A tour guide of Sacramento
I’ve lived in Arden-Arcade, the Pocket, Hollywood Park, Downtown and Tahoe Park, so I know these neighborhoods as a resident.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me on day trips to Grass Valley, Nevada City and the river towns, exploring the city, roller skating, or at a local show.

“I never thought selling a home could be this painless and easy.”
“Joseph made the entire process smooth and reassuring from start to finish.”
“He responded promptly, explained complex concepts simply and let me know what to expect at every stage. I never felt overwhelmed, I felt in control.”
Let’s talk
Start with a phone call. Tell me what’s going on and I’ll give you my honest take. I reply myself.
